How soccer betting works for Canadians outside Ontario and Alberta, starting with MLS and the CPL: 1X2, draw no bet, Asian handicap, totals and the 2026-27 calendar.

Three Canadian clubs play in MLS, and the regular season ends on Decision Day, November 7, 2026. This guide starts with Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Toronto FC and CF Montréal, moves on to the Canadian Premier League, the Premier League and the Champions League, and then explains the main soccer markets: 1X2 and two-way bets, draw no bet, Asian handicap, totals, both teams to score, parlays, live betting and futures.
Dates come from the leagues' own sites as published on October 21, 2026. Every price on this page is an example in American odds with the decimal price next to it, not a current line. The sportsbooks listed are for players outside Ontario and Alberta, 19+ (18+ in Quebec and Manitoba).
According to our fact sheets, 33 of the 42 brands on our Canadian list run a sportsbook next to the casino. Before you deposit, check that the operator covers the leagues you want (MLS and the CPL are not on every menu), read its soccer rules (90 minutes or extra time, abandoned matches) and confirm the provinces it accepts. 19+ (18+ in Quebec and Manitoba).
Three Canadian clubs play in Major League Soccer. Vancouver Whitecaps FC are in the Western Conference and play at BC Place. Toronto FC and CF Montréal are in the Eastern Conference and play at BMO Field and Stade Saputo.
Where the 2026 season stands, as published by MLS and the clubs on October 21, 2026:
Nine clubs from each conference qualify. Seeds one to seven go straight to Round One; seeds eight and nine play a single Wild Card game, hosted by the higher seed. Round One is a best-of-three series, and every round after it is a single match. Key dates from MLS:
| Round | Date |
|---|---|
| Decision Day (last regular-season games) | Saturday, November 7, 2026 |
| Wild Card matches | Wednesday, November 18, 2026 |
| Round One, best of three | November 20 to December 2, 2026 |
| Conference Semifinals | December 5 and 6, 2026 |
| Conference Finals | December 11 and 12, 2026 |
| MLS Cup | Friday, December 18, 2026 |
Playoff games bring a choice of markets. The regular 1X2 settles on 90 minutes plus stoppage time, so a draw is a losing result for both teams. A "to advance" or series market includes extra time and penalties. Read which one you are clicking.
Sportsbooks that take Canadian bets see a lot of money on the Whitecaps, Toronto FC and CF Montréal. When most of the money lands on one side, its price can end up shorter than the team's real chance would justify. Betting on your club is fine as entertainment; set the stake you would set on any other match.
The CPL is Canada's own professional league, with eight clubs: Atlético Ottawa, Cavalry FC, Forge FC, FC Supra, Halifax Wanderers, Inter Toronto FC, Pacific FC and Vancouver FC.
The 2026 regular season ends on October 25. With one week to play, the CPL reported on October 19 that Cavalry FC, Forge FC and Atlético Ottawa had clinched playoff places, and that the CPL Shield (first place) and the fourth playoff spot were still open.
Two-legged ties change how you read prices. The second-leg 1X2 is about that match only; the "to qualify" market is about the whole tie, extra time and penalties included. CPL markets are also thinner than MLS ones: fewer props, lower limits at many sportsbooks, and starting lineups that matter more to the price.
Most soccer money from Canada goes on European games, and the time difference works in your favour: matches start in the morning or early afternoon here.
Dates are as published by the Premier League and UEFA on October 21, 2026; UEFA notes they are subject to change.
Canada co-hosted the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Mexico and the United States from June 11 to July 19, 2026, with Toronto and Vancouver as the Canadian host cities. According to Canada Soccer's match records, Canada drew 1-1 with Bosnia and Herzegovina at BMO Field on June 12, then beat Qatar 6-0 and lost 2-1 to Switzerland at BC Place. Canada beat South Africa 1-0 in the round of 32 in Inglewood, California, on June 28, and lost 3-0 to Morocco in the round of 16 in Houston on July 4. FIFA records Spain as champions, after a 1-0 win over Argentina after extra time in the final on July 19.
This is where soccer differs from the other big sports. In the NHL or the NBA, the moneyline has two sides. A soccer match can end in a draw, so the main market has three: home win (1), draw (X) and away win (2). It settles on 90 minutes plus stoppage time.
Example prices only, not current odds: home +130 (2.30), draw +250 (3.50), away +200 (3.00).
The three implied chances add up to about 105.4%. The 5.4 points over 100% are the sportsbook's margin, and with three outcomes it is spread more thinly across each one than you might notice.
If you want a two-way bet, sportsbooks offer two ways to deal with the draw:
Knockout markets such as "to lift the trophy" or "to advance" are also two-way, because extra time and penalties decide them.
Asian handicap gives one team a head start in goals and removes the draw. Half-goal lines always settle; whole and quarter lines can refund part or all of the stake.
Example only: $10 on -0.75 at -110 (1.91). A 2-0 win returns $19.09. A 1-0 win returns about $14.55 ($9.55 on the winning half plus the $5 refunded). A draw or a loss returns nothing.
Soccer totals are set in goals, and the usual main line is 2.5: over needs three goals or more, under needs two or fewer. Asian totals (2.25, 2.75) split the stake the same way as Asian handicaps.
Example only: over 2.5 at -120 (1.83), where $12 wins $10. "Both teams to score" (yes or no) is a separate market: a 1-1 or 2-1 result wins the yes, a 2-0 does not. Corners and cards have their own totals too.
A parlay combines several bets that all have to win, and the decimal prices multiply.
Example only: a home win at +130 (2.30), over 2.5 in another match at -120 (1.83) and both teams to score yes in a third at -125 (1.80). The parlay price is 2.30 x 1.83 x 1.80 = about 7.58, so $10 returns about $75.76 if all three win and nothing if one loses. Draws break many soccer parlays. Our parlay guide explains how the margin builds up with each leg.
Live soccer prices move with every goal, red card and substitution, and markets are suspended for a few seconds around big moments such as a penalty or a video review. A stream can run behind the sportsbook's data, so the price you see may already be gone. Not every operator offers cash-out on every market. Decide your live stake before kickoff.
Futures settle weeks or months later: MLS Cup and the conference winners, the CPL Final, the Premier League title, top-four finish and relegation, the Champions League winner and top-scorer markets.
Example only: a club at +800 (9.00) to win MLS Cup returns $90 on a $10 bet. The money stays tied up until the market settles, and a club can drop out in a single knockout game.
A minus price shows what you stake to win $100; a plus price shows what $100 wins. A decimal price is the total return per $1, stake included. The odds formats guide covers the conversion in full.
| American | Decimal | $10 bet returns | Implied chance |
|---|---|---|---|
| -165 | 1.61 | $16.06 | 62.3% |
| -120 | 1.83 | $18.33 | 54.5% |
| +130 | 2.30 | $23.00 | 43.5% |
| +250 | 3.50 | $35.00 | 28.6% |
| +800 | 9.00 | $90.00 | 11.1% |
Our guides to NHL, CFL, NFL and NBA betting show the same markets in sports without a draw.
Single-game sports betting has been legal in Canada since August 27, 2021, when the Safe and Regulated Sports Betting Act came into force. The provinces run their own sportsbooks: PlayNow in British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, Mise-o-jeu from Loto-Québec, and Proline from Atlantic Lottery. The sportsbooks in our list are offshore operators licensed outside Canada; each casino page shows the licence we found. Ontario and Alberta players are not covered by this site.
Our Interac e-Transfer guide explains deposits and withdrawals. Current sportsbook offers are on the sports betting hub, and the sports betting bonus guide explains how bet credits and rollover terms work in general.
Sports betting is entertainment, not income, and the margin means the sportsbook comes out ahead over time.
Betting is for adults only: 19+ in most provinces, 18+ in Quebec and Manitoba. Our responsible gambling page lists free, confidential help in every province we cover.
