E-wallets at online casinos in Canada

An e-wallet sits between your bank and the casino: you load the wallet, pay the casino from it, and winnings go back to the wallet before you move them to your bank. It keeps card and bank details away from the casino and, at some casinos, is one of the withdrawal routes they do name. It is also a second account with its own fees, its own ID checks and its own terms. This guide covers MuchBetter, Skrill, Neteller and PayPal for Canadians, and which casinos on our list show e-wallets on their own site.

Of the 42 casinos on our Canadian list, 10 name at least one e-wallet on their own site. The casinos below are for players outside Ontario and Alberta, 19+ (18+ in Quebec and Manitoba).

How a casino e-wallet works

  1. Open and verify the wallet. Expect to give photo ID and proof of address, as you would at a bank. Use the same name, email address and home address as on your casino account.
  2. Load it. Top up from your bank account, a card or, at some wallets, a prepaid voucher. A top-up from a credit card can be treated as a cash advance by your card issuer, so a bank transfer or debit card is usually the cheaper source.
  3. Pay the casino. Choose the wallet in the cashier and approve the payment in the wallet's app or website. The casino sees the wallet, not your bank.
  4. Withdraw back to the wallet. Where the casino pays out to that wallet, winnings arrive in your wallet balance once the casino has approved the request.
  5. Move the money to your bank. This is a separate step with its own fee at most wallets, so check it before you start.

A wallet adds a second set of terms to read, and if something goes wrong with a payment you may be dealing with two companies instead of one. Keep the transaction reference from both sides.

MuchBetter

MuchBetter is an app-based wallet with a Canadian company behind it. Its Canadian terms name MIR Canada Financial Ltd., with its registered office in Vancouver, as a money services business registered with the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) under number M20893888. There are separate terms for Quebec and for the rest of Canada, and the terms point Canadian customers to a help centre for Canada. The terms also say the account is not a bank account.

  • Fees (MuchBetter's fees page, not specific to Canada): paying a merchant and receiving a transfer from a merchant are free. Currency conversion costs 0.99% between US dollars, euros and pounds; other conversions use rates that vary. Using a MuchBetter card with a gambling merchant costs 2%. A management fee of $5 or the equivalent a month may apply to an inactive account.
  • The app is the final word on fees. MuchBetter's own page says the fees shown in the app are the most up to date.
  • On our list: Pribet shows MuchBetter in its Canada footer, and Slots Palace names it on its homepage (served to us in euros). Review sites list MuchBetter for more brands, but we count only what the casino itself shows.

Skrill

Skrill is part of the Paysafe Group. Its support page says it serves every country on its account registration form, but the page does not name Canada, so check the country list on the sign-up form before you rely on it.

  • Fees (Skrill's general fees page, not specific to Canada): paying a merchant from your wallet has no transaction fee and receiving money has none either. Withdrawing to a bank account costs 1.75% with a minimum of EUR 3.50; to a Visa or Mastercard, up to 3.99% with a minimum of EUR 0.99. A 3.99% fee applies to currency conversion. If you do not log in or make a transaction for six months, a fee of EUR 5.00 a month is charged.
  • Loading: a bank transfer has no fee; cards cost up to 1.25%, and Skrill's page warns that your card issuer may charge a cash-advance fee for gambling use.
  • On our list: BEEF (its FAQ), FS Casino (homepage table), Lollyspins (deposits and withdrawals), Pistolo (payments page, euro view) and Pribet (Canada footer) show Skrill. Spinbara's Canadian payments page lists Skrill for withdrawals only.

Neteller

Neteller is also part of the Paysafe Group. Its support page says it serves the countries on its registration form, without naming Canada. Its footer shows that Paysafe Financial Services Limited, which issues the Net+ prepaid Mastercard, is registered with FINTRAC and Revenu Québec.

  • Fees (Neteller's general fees page): receiving money from another Neteller account is free. Most deposit methods cost 2.5%. Withdrawing to a bank account costs 1.75% with a minimum of US$3.50; to a Visa or Mastercard, up to 3.99%. Currency conversion costs up to 3.99%. A monthly fee of US$5.00 applies if you do not log in or make a transaction at least every six months.
  • On our list: FS Casino, Lollyspins, Pistolo and Pribet show Neteller on their own pages.

PayPal

PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy for Canada (last updated November 2, 2022) puts casino games and sports betting in its list of activities that need PayPal's pre-approval, and only where the operator and its customers are located exclusively in jurisdictions where the activity is permitted by law.

None of the 42 casinos on our Canadian list shows PayPal on its own site. One review site lists PayPal for TonyBet, but the operator does not, so we do not count it. If you see PayPal offered by a casino that is not licensed in your province, ask why before you pay.

Other wallets you will see

The wallet named most often by the casinos on our list is not one of the four above. MiFinity is shown by eight casinos on their own pages: FS Casino, Lollyspins, Mino Casino, Needforspin, Pistolo, Pribet, Rolling Slots and Spinbara, which lists it for deposits and withdrawals on its Canadian payments page. Lollyspins also names Jeton, ecoPayz and eZeeWallet, FS Casino names Jeton and Piastrix, and Pribet names ecoPayz and Rapid Transfer. We have not reviewed the terms or fees of these wallets, so read them before you open an account.

Our casino counts come from the operators' own pages, read October 20 and 21, 2026. Only Spinbara's payments page and Pribet's footer were clearly served for Canada; the others showed us an international view.

Before you use a wallet at a casino

  • Check both sides of the cashier. Lollyspins and Spinbara list wallets for withdrawals; most of the others do not say. A wallet you can only deposit with leaves you looking for a second method when you want to withdraw.
  • Watch the currency. If your wallet is in one currency, the casino in another and your bank in Canadian dollars, you can pay a conversion fee twice. Open the wallet in Canadian dollars where the wallet offers it.
  • Count the exit fee. Moving money from Skrill or Neteller to your bank costs 1.75% with a minimum, so many small withdrawals cost more than one larger one.
  • Expect two ID checks. The wallet verifies you, and the casino can still ask for proof that the wallet is yours before a withdrawal. Spinbara's terms, for example, ask for "proof of ownership and transaction histories of the payment methods used".
  • Mind the inactivity fees. Skrill and Neteller charge after six months without activity, MuchBetter may charge after 12. Empty a wallet you no longer use.

If Interac e-Transfer is available at your casino, it avoids the second account altogether: see our Interac e-Transfer guide. For limits at your own bank, see the Canadian banks guide.

Methods you should not see any more

  • Interac Online was retired in 2024. If a cashier or review still lists it, treat that list as out of date.
  • InstaDebit has closed. Its last day for deposits was February 27, 2026, and withdrawals of remaining balances ran until April 30, 2026. Some review sites still list it for Canadian casinos. It is not available.

Before you deposit

A wallet balance can feel less real than money in your bank account, which makes it easy to top up again. Set a deposit limit in your casino account, and keep the wallet balance to what you have decided to spend. Online gambling is for adults only: 19+ in most provinces, 18+ in Quebec and Manitoba. Free, confidential help for every province we cover is on our responsible gambling page. To compare casinos, see all casinos and how we rate casinos.
