Crypto lets you pay an offshore casino without your bank or card in the middle, and some casinos on our list name it as a withdrawal route too. It also brings things a bank payment does not: a wallet to manage, a network to match, fees that change by the hour, a price that moves while your money sits in the casino, and tax questions when you spend or exchange coins. This guide covers how crypto deposits and withdrawals work for Canadians, what they cost and what to check first.
Of the 42 casinos on our Canadian list, 15 show crypto on their own site. The casinos below are for players outside Ontario and Alberta, 19+ (18+ in Quebec and Manitoba).
How a crypto casino deposit works
- Get the coins. Buy them on a crypto trading platform, paying in Canadian dollars by Interac e-Transfer or bank transfer. The Canadian Securities Administrators publish a list of the crypto trading platforms authorized to do business with Canadians; check that yours is on it.
- Choose the coin and the network in the casino cashier. Pick exactly the coin you hold and, for coins such as USDT that run on several networks, the network you will send on.
- Copy the deposit address. Use the copy button or the QR code rather than typing it. Some coins, such as XRP, also need a tag or memo; leave it out and the casino may not be able to match the payment to your account.
- Send from your wallet or platform. Check the first and last characters of the address before you confirm.
- Wait for confirmations. The casino credits the deposit once the network has confirmed it. A Bitcoin block arrives about every 10 minutes on average, and the receiving side may wait for several.
If you have never sent crypto to this casino before, send a small amount first and wait until it shows in your balance.
Wallets: platform account or your own wallet
- A platform account (custodial): the trading platform holds the coins for you. It is simpler, but the platform's own terms apply, including any rules it has on payments to gambling sites.
- A self-custody wallet: you hold the keys, usually as a recovery phrase. Nobody can block a payment, and nobody can recover the coins if you lose the phrase or send to the wrong address.
Whichever you use, a casino payout goes to the address you give it. Give an address on the same network as the coin the casino is sending.
Networks: the part that loses coins
Some coins exist on more than one blockchain. USDT is the common example: Spinbara and Pistolo list it on four networks (ERC-20, BEP-20, TRC-20 and Solana), and BEEF lists it on ERC-20 and TRC-20. An address on one network is not interchangeable with another. Coins sent on the wrong network may never arrive, and the casino may be unable or unwilling to recover them.
- Match the coin and the network in the casino cashier with the coin and network you choose when you send.
- Do the same in reverse for a withdrawal: the address you give the casino must be on the network the casino pays out on.
- If the cashier does not name the network, ask support before you send.
What a crypto deposit costs
- Buying and selling. The trading platform charges a fee or a spread each time you buy or sell coins for Canadian dollars, and some charge to send coins out. Those costs apply twice if you buy coins to deposit and sell them again after a withdrawal.
- Network fees. The sender pays a fee to the network for every transaction. It depends on the network and on how busy it is at that moment, not on the casino.
- Casino fees and limits. Some casinos charge their own fee or set a minimum for crypto. That is in each casino's terms; we do not list per-brand figures on this page.
- Conversion inside the casino. Of the 15 on our list, only iWild's terms make crypto a playing currency. The others do not say whether a crypto deposit is converted into a regular currency, or at what rate. Ask support before you deposit.
Volatility: your dollars can change while you play
A coin's price in Canadian dollars can move between your deposit and your withdrawal. If the casino keeps your balance in crypto, a winning session can be worth less in dollars by the time you sell, and what is left after a losing one can shrink further or recover. If the casino converts your deposit to a regular currency, the risk moves to the moment you convert back.
Stablecoins such as USDT and USDC are designed to track the US dollar, not the Canadian dollar. They remove most of the crypto price risk but leave the exchange rate between US and Canadian dollars. This is not investment advice, and none of this page recommends buying any coin.
Crypto withdrawals
- Not every crypto casino pays out in crypto. Seven of our 15 confirm crypto withdrawals on their own site: Spinbara and Lollyspins list them, and the terms of BEEF, Flagman, FUGU, Irwin and Martin set a limit for crypto withdrawals. Pistolo and Slots Palace list coins without saying which side they cover; the other six do not say.
- Identity checks still apply. Paying in crypto does not make you anonymous to the casino. The terms we read allow casinos to ask for ID and proof of address, usually before the first withdrawal, and BEEF's terms ask for an ID photo for crypto withdrawals of EUR 1,250 or more.
- A sent payment cannot be pulled back. Only the recipient can refund a crypto payment. If you give the wrong address, the casino's payout is gone. There is no chargeback, either for you or for the casino.
- Keep the paper trail. Save the casino's withdrawal record together with the transaction ID on the blockchain. You will want both for your own records.
Tax: what to keep in mind
Whether gambling winnings are taxable is a separate question, covered in our gambling winnings tax guide. Crypto adds a second one. The Canada Revenue Agency's guidance lists as dispositions of a crypto-asset: trading or exchanging it for government-issued currency or another crypto-asset, using it to buy goods or services, and giving it away. Moving coins between wallets you own is not a disposition. A disposition can create a capital gain or loss, or business income if your crypto activity looks like a business.
Sending coins to a casino is not a transfer between your own wallets, and selling coins you receive back from a casino is an exchange for currency. The CRA's rules are in Reporting income from crypto-asset transactions on canada.ca. Its records guide asks you to keep, for each transaction, the date, the amount and type of coin, its value in Canadian dollars at the time, the other party and the wallet addresses, for at least six years. This page is general information, not tax advice; a tax professional can look at your own situation.
Which casinos on our list take crypto
We count a casino only when its own site shows crypto: a footer logo, a payments page, the homepage or the terms. On that rule, 15 of our 42 qualify: BEEF, Flagman, FS Casino, FUGU, Irwin, iWild, Lollyspins, Martin, Mino Casino, Needforspin, Pistolo, Pribet, Rolling Slots, Slots Palace and Spinbara. Review sites list crypto for most of the other 27, but we do not count that.
- Coins named: six of the 15 name coins on their own pages: BEEF, FS Casino, iWild, Pistolo, Slots Palace and Spinbara. The other nine show crypto without naming coins.
- Canadian dollars: 11 of the 15 show CAD on their own site.
- Mixed signals: FS Casino's terms say it does not accept cryptocurrencies, although its homepage lists Bitcoin and Ethereum, and Needforspin's terms do not list crypto, although its footer does. Ask support in writing before you send coins to either.
- Limits: iWild's terms say deposit limits cannot be applied to crypto deposits. If you rely on a deposit limit to control your spending, that matters.
Each casino's coins, licence and provinces are on our crypto casinos page.
Crypto or Interac e-Transfer?
| Question | Crypto | Interac e-Transfer |
|---|---|---|
| Who is in the middle | A trading platform and the network | Your bank |
| Extra steps | Buy coins, match the network, sell after withdrawal | Approve the payment in online banking |
| Price risk | Yes, unless you use a stablecoin (then US dollar risk) | None |
| Mistakes | A wrong address or network cannot be reversed | A returned transfer goes back to the sender |
| Casinos on our list | 15 show it on their own site | 15 show it on their own site |
If your casino takes Interac e-Transfer, see our Interac e-Transfer guide for the steps.
Before you deposit
Crypto makes it harder to see how much you have spent in dollars. Write down the dollar value of each deposit, set a deposit limit in your casino account where the casino allows it for crypto, and never buy coins with borrowed money. Online gambling is for adults only: 19+ in most provinces, 18+ in Quebec and Manitoba. Free, confidential help for every province we cover is on our responsible gambling page, and how we rate casinos explains what goes into each score.

Frequently asked questions
The coins may never reach the casino, and there is no bank to reverse the payment. An address on one network, for example USDT on TRC-20, is not the same as an address on another, such as ERC-20. Some casinos can recover coins sent on the wrong network, many cannot. Match the coin and network in the cashier to what you send, and test with a small amount first.
Possibly, and it is a separate question from whether gambling winnings are taxed. The Canada Revenue Agency treats exchanging crypto for currency or another crypto-asset, or using it to pay for goods or services, as a disposition, which can create a capital gain or loss. Keep records of every purchase, deposit, withdrawal and sale in Canadian dollars, and check the CRA's guidance on canada.ca or ask a tax professional.
There are three layers. The trading platform charges a fee or spread when you buy and sell coins, the network charges the sender a fee that depends on how busy it is, and some casinos add their own fee or minimum, set in their terms. If the casino converts your coins to a regular currency, its conversion rate is a fourth cost, and none of our 15 crypto casinos except iWild says how that works.
Partly. USDT and USDC are designed to track the US dollar, so they remove most of the crypto price risk. They do not track the Canadian dollar, so the exchange rate between US and Canadian dollars still moves your result. Check which network the casino supports for the stablecoin, as USDT runs on several. This is general information, not investment advice.
No. A crypto payment cannot be cancelled once the network confirms it; only the recipient can send the coins back. That works both ways: a deposit to the wrong address is gone, and a casino payout to an address you mistyped cannot be recalled. There is no chargeback as with a card. Copy addresses with the copy button or QR code and check them before you confirm.
