Online casinos in the Northwest Territories
This page is for players in the Northwest Territories. It covers who runs legal gambling in the territory, where offshore casinos fit, and where to get help. It does not cover Ontario or Alberta.
40 of the 42 casinos on our Canadian list are on this page. Our rule: a casino is listed only if we read the restricted-territories list in its own terms and the Northwest Territories is not on it. We checked the sources on October 20 and 21, 2026. A casino on this list is not licensed by the Northwest Territories or by any province.
19+ in the Northwest Territories. T&Cs apply. Not available in Ontario or Alberta. SpinsPilot may earn a commission from casinos on this page; see our affiliate disclosure.

Who runs legal gambling in the Northwest Territories
Gambling in Canada is set by the Criminal Code. Section 207(1)(a) allows the government of a province, alone or with another province, to "conduct and manage" lottery schemes there. Under section 207(4)(c), charities, fairs and other licensees may not run games on or through a computer, so online gambling under the Code is for the government itself. Federal law defines "province" to include Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, so the same rules apply to the territories.
In the Northwest Territories, lotteries are "conducted and managed by the Western Canada Lottery Corporation as the agent of the Government of the Northwest Territories", in the words of the territory's Western Canada Lottery Regulations. WCLC is a non-profit that runs lotteries for Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, with the three territories as associate members. Tickets are sold through NWT and Nunavut Lotteries, based in Yellowknife, and its retailers.
The Department of Municipal and Community Affairs (MACA) proposed the 2022 changes to those regulations, and it licenses charity bingos, Nevada tickets, casinos and raffles under the Lotteries Act; in 16 communities, including Yellowknife, the community government issues those licences.
Is there an online casino run by the Northwest Territories?
No. We found no online casino, sports betting or poker site run by or for the Northwest Territories. PlayNow.com has versions for British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan only.
WCLC's online option is lottery only. Its Lotto Spot app is, in WCLC's words, "intended for residents of the Prairie Provinces and Territories aged 18 and older", and WCLC says the platform sells lottery games and subscriptions in the app and online. It has no casino games. We could not confirm on an official page whether online ticket sales are available everywhere in the Northwest Territories.
Where offshore casinos fit
The casinos on our list are not run or licensed by the Northwest Territories. They operate from outside Canada, with a licence issued elsewhere, for example in Curaçao or Anjouan, or with no licence we could verify, and they have no link to WCLC. A territorial office cannot resolve a dispute you have with one of them; your route is the casino's own complaints process and, where there is one, the body that issued its licence. Whether federal or territorial law reaches an individual who plays at an offshore site is a legal question this page does not answer. We are not lawyers, and nothing here is legal advice.
Before you sign up anywhere, check the licence in the regulator's own register (our guide to casino licences shows how), Interac for withdrawals as well as deposits, and terms you can read. Our top-rated casinos, Interac casinos and how we rate casinos pages apply these checks.
Which casinos on our list accept players from the Northwest Territories
A casino is on this page only if we read the restricted-territories list in its own terms, and the Northwest Territories is not on it. Review sites do not count. None of the terms we read, on October 20 and 21, 2026, names the Northwest Territories or the Canadian territories; the lists that name Canadian places name only Ontario or New Brunswick.
40 of the 42 casinos pass that test: Art Casino, BEEF, Betrepublic, Casabet, Casinia, Casinostars, Cleobetra, Flagman, FS Casino, FUGU, GGBet, HitnSpin, Irwin, iWild, Kingmaker, Lollyspins, Malina, Martin, Mino Casino, MyEmpire, Needforspin, Neon54, Pandido, Pistolo, Pribet, Rabona, Real Spin, RioAce, Rolling Slots, RTBET, Slotoro, Slots Palace, Snatch, Spinanga, Spinbara, Spinit, Spinlander, Thor, Verde and Winmega.
Two are left out because we could not read their lists: Tonybet and Vavada. Tonybet's Canadian terms did not load for us, and Vavada's site refused our request. That does not mean they refuse the Northwest Territories.
Being on this list means only that a casino's terms do not refuse the Northwest Territories, not that it is licensed in Canada. Some terms let the casino refuse other players at its own discretion, so the sign-up form and the cashier have the final word. Every casino we cover is on our all casinos page.
Age, help and self-exclusion in the Northwest Territories
The Western Canada Lottery Regulations, as amended in 2022, say that no person under 18 may take part in a lottery that WCLC conducts and manages for the territory, and retailers must ask for ID from anyone who appears to be under 18. We found no NWT law that sets an age for online casino play. An offshore casino sets its own minimum age in its terms. SpinsPilot's rule in the Northwest Territories is 19+.
Help line: the territory's 811 Helpline. Call 811 or 1-844-259-1793 any time to talk with a registered nurse about mental health or addiction. The service is free, confidential, and available in English, French and other official NWT languages.
Self-exclusion: we found no self-exclusion program run by the Northwest Territories, and none is described on the territory's lottery and licensing pages that we read. Self-exclusion at an offshore casino has to be set up with each casino: ask support in writing and keep the confirmation. Our self-exclusion guide and responsible gambling page cover the other tools.
Taxes on winnings: the general rule
This is general information, not tax advice. The Canada Revenue Agency lists lottery winnings among the amounts that are not reported or taxed, unless the prize can be considered income from employment, a business or property. Its income tax folio on lottery winnings and gambling says that gambling, even when frequent, is not generally regarded as a commercial activity except under very exceptional circumstances. The same federal rules apply in the Northwest Territories; our guide to tax on winnings explains more.
Paying from the Northwest Territories
Interac e-Transfer from your own Canadian bank account is the first method to look for: you start the deposit at the casino and approve it in your bank's app. Interac Online was retired in 2024 and InstaDebit closed in 2026, so a casino that still lists them is out of date. Our Interac e-Transfer guide has the steps.
Other provinces and territories
The rules, the age and the help line change at each border. Our other pages: Quebec, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Yukon and Nunavut. Ontario and Alberta run their own regulated online markets, and this site does not serve them.
Frequently asked questions
Is online gambling legal in the Northwest Territories?
Under the Criminal Code, provinces and territories conduct and manage gambling. In the Northwest Territories, the legal lottery is the Western Canada Lottery, run through WCLC, and there is no territorial online casino. The casinos on our list are based outside Canada and are not licensed by the Northwest Territories. Nothing here is legal advice.
What is the legal gambling age in the Northwest Territories?
For lottery products, 18, under the territory's Western Canada Lottery Regulations. We found no NWT law that sets an age for online casino play. SpinsPilot's rule in the Northwest Territories is 19+. Expect an ID check before your first withdrawal.
Which casinos on your list accept players from the Northwest Territories?
40 of the 42, because their own terms list restricted territories that we read and the Northwest Territories is not among them. Tonybet and Vavada are left out because we could not read their lists.
Can I self-exclude in the Northwest Territories?
We found no self-exclusion program run by the Northwest Territories. At an offshore casino, ask support in writing and keep the confirmation. For support, call 811 or 1-844-259-1793, any time.
Do I pay tax on casino winnings in the Northwest Territories?
As a general rule, no. The Canada Revenue Agency lists lottery winnings among amounts that are not taxed, unless the prize can be considered income from employment, a business or property. Interest you earn on winnings is taxable. This is general information, not tax advice; see the CRA page.

Facts on this page were checked on official sources on October 21, 2026, and the casinos' terms on October 20 and 21, 2026. Some casino sites served us a non-Canadian view or a mirror domain, so a visitor in the Northwest Territories may see different pages.
