Halloween slots: RTP and volatility of the spooky titles, checked

Of the 12 Halloween and horror slots below, the published RTPs run from 94.65% (BGaming's Monster Hunt) to 98% (NetEnt's Blood Suckers), and max wins from 900 times the bet to 54,391 times. Every figure comes from the provider's own game page. One catch matters more than any number in the table: three of these games are sold to casinos in several RTP versions, as low as 86%, and the provider page shows you the top one. The game you open may not be the game in the table.
The theme is seasonal. The maths is not, so this list is as useful in March as it is in October.
How we picked and checked the games
We looked for horror and Halloween titles from large providers, then kept only games whose provider publishes the numbers on its own site. That cost us some well-known names: Play'n GO's game pages show a release date and a theme, but no RTP or volatility, so its titles are not here. Pragmatic Play's pages publish RTP only, which is why its two rows are mostly blank. We did not fill those gaps from review sites.
Each provider uses its own volatility scale. Hacksaw Gaming rates out of 5, Nolimit City uses words up to "Extreme", BGaming uses words like "Medium-high", and NetEnt's page shows volatility as a graphic only. Compare volatility within one provider, not across them.

What the numbers say
Blood Suckers is the outlier in both directions. The 98% RTP is the highest here, its page lists a 45% hit frequency, and the max win is 900 times the bet. It pays often and small. If you want a long session on a $20 budget, this is the shape to look for. If you want a big win, it cannot give you one.
The Nolimit City games are the opposite. All four carry an "Extreme" rating. Disturbed caps at 54,391 times the bet and Book of Shadows at 30,338 times, but those are ceilings almost nobody reaches. Extreme volatility means long runs of small or no wins between the rare large ones. On a $0.40 spin, a $50 balance is 125 spins, and on these games 125 spins can easily pass without the bonus round.
Hacksaw's three new releases sit in between at 3/5 and 4/5, with max wins of 10,000 to 15,000 times. Death Becomes You is the most volatile of the three.
Monster Hunt has the lowest RTP in the list at 94.65%. That is the full-strength figure, not a reduced version. Over $1,000 of spins, the difference between 94.65% and 98% is about $33 in expected return. On any one evening, luck swamps that. Over months, it does not.
Why your casino's version matters
A provider can sell the same game to casinos in several RTP settings, and the casino picks which one to run. Hacksaw Gaming publishes the full list: Demonic Dolls comes at 96.26%, 94.19%, 92.24% or 86.21%. Same reels, same symbols, same artwork. The only difference is how much of every $100 wagered the game is built to return over the long run.
The gap is not small. At 96.26%, the expected cost of $1,000 of spins is about $37. At 86.21%, it is about $138. Nothing on the screen tells you which version you are playing unless you look.
Nolimit City, BGaming and NetEnt list one RTP per game on their pages, and Pragmatic Play lists one figure and no volatility. A single number on a provider page does not prove there is only one version. It only means the page shows one.
How to check the RTP in the game
- Open the game, in demo mode if the casino offers it.
- Find the menu, the "i" button or the paytable, then the game rules page.
- Look for "RTP", "return to player" or "theoretical return". Some games give two figures, one for normal play and one for the bonus buy.
- Compare it with the table above. If the game shows 92% where the provider lists 96%, you are on a lower version.
If the figure is missing from the rules, ask support which RTP version the casino runs. A casino that will not say has answered the question in its own way.
Where these games are listed
The public game catalogues of Flagman, FUGU, Irwin and Martin list all 12 titles (checked 26 Oct 2026). We read those catalogues from outside Canada, so search the lobby once you are logged in to confirm a game opens for your account. We have not checked which RTP version each of these casinos runs. That is the info panel check above, and it takes ten seconds. For current offers, see Flagman's, FUGU's, Irwin's or Martin's page.
One more catch: some casinos restrict NetEnt games for Canadian players. Casinia's terms do, for example, so Blood Suckers will not be in every Canadian lobby.
For how RTP, volatility and paylines work in general, see our online slots guide.
Play within a budget
A horror theme does not change how a slot works: every spin is random, and the RTP is a long-run average, not a promise for tonight. Set a budget before you start, use your casino account's deposit limits, and stop when the budget is gone. You must be 19 or older to gamble online (18 in Quebec and Manitoba). Free, confidential help for every province and territory we serve is on our responsible gambling page.

Frequently asked questions
Of the 12 games we checked, NetEnt's Blood Suckers has the highest published RTP at 98.00%, followed by Hacksaw Gaming's Le Vampire and BGaming's Haunted Reels at 97%. These are the figures on each provider's own game page. Le Vampire also comes in lower versions down to 86%, so check the RTP in the game's info panel at your casino before you rely on the top figure.
Volatility describes how a slot pays out over time. Low-volatility games pay small wins often; high-volatility games pay rarely, but the wins can be much larger. Both can have the same RTP. Providers rate volatility on their own scales, so Hacksaw Gaming's 4 out of 5 and Nolimit City's "Extreme" cannot be compared directly. Compare games from the same provider.
Some providers sell each game in several RTP settings and let the casino choose. Hacksaw Gaming, for example, lists four versions of Demonic Dolls, from 96.26% down to 86.21%. The game looks and plays the same in every version. The only difference is the long-run return, so the version your casino runs affects what you can expect to get back over many spins.
Open the game, then the menu, the "i" button or the paytable, and go to the game rules. Look for "RTP", "return to player" or "theoretical return". Some games list a separate figure for the bonus buy. If the rules do not show it, ask the casino's support which RTP version it runs, and compare the answer with the provider's own figure.
No. The slots in our list are regular games that stay in casino catalogues all year. Book of Shadows came out in 2020 and Blood Suckers in 2009, and both are still listed. Casinos often push seasonal titles to the front of the lobby in October, but you can usually find them through the lobby search at any time of year.
